L'AIR "Encore" THEATRE - TOURING Suspended
Floor System
for Portable Use
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION
Furnish a portable 100% suspended, acoustically rated, fully integrated modular suspended floor system which
provides a consistent resilient surface with controlled rebound over entirety of installed floor
surface, complete with heavy duty steel transports. Encore Theatre - Touring System is designed for use with L'AIR
DanceVinyl as performance surface.

2.2 MATERIALS
A. Module Dimensions
1. Full size: 95" long by 47- 1/2" wide by 1-3/8" thick., 85 lbs approximate
weight.
2. Half size: 47- 7/16" long by 47- 1/2" wide by 1- 3/8" thick, 43 lbs approximate weight.
B. Module Composition
1. Top Layer: 18mm thick, plywood composed of APA standards void free 7- ply wood core , bonded
with water resistant #2 glue lines, 1/8" top and bottom solid veneer bonded with water resistant #2 glue
lines, and finish veneer. Machined to rectangular dimensions and precise 90 degree angles.
Top and bottom surfaces coated with CNC robotic machine applied, environmentally safe, solvent
free non-yellowing acrylic urethane , 100% solids, machine applied, which is then UV cured. Edges of
plywood are sealed and lubricated with pressure applied paraffin based material.
2. Bottom Layer: L'AIR Multi-Durometer™ 1/2" thick closed cell synthetic sponge adhered with
non-toxic adhesive. Bottom surface is 1/8" High-Density Sheeting, attached to bottom of suspension
towers for protection of suspension towers and ease of installation. Size and placement are proprietary.
3. Tongue and Groove: Tongue is 3/8" diameter hard birch dowel with precise concentricity and
placement. Groove is 3/8" diameter edge groove machined to precise radius. Grooves lubricated with
parafin spray.
C. Transition Ramp Dimensions: 47 1/2" long by 24" wide by 1-3/8" thick at juncture with floor. ADA compliant.
D. Transition Ramp Composition : 5/8" / 15mm" thick engineered panel composed of void free wood core bonded with
water resistant #2 or better glue lines. Top and bottom surface coating is machine
applied UV acrylate with 100% solids. Leading edge is coated with oil based enamel for slip resistance and durability. Brass installation sockets are
factory installed for placement of installation screws which are placed into theatre deck during installation of overall
Encore System.
E. Perimeter Cleat Dimensions: 95"' long by 2-15/16" wide by 1-3/8" thick. Brass installation sockets factory
installed for placement of installation screws which are placed into theatre deck during installation of overall Encore
system.
F. Perimeter Cleat Composition: 14 veneer, bonded plywood with radiused outer edge, tongue and groove inner edge
to integrate with floor modules. Finish is industrial black lacquer.
G. Transport Composition
1. Frame: US/Canadian seamless electro-welded square steel tubing. Finish is powder coat, orange -
red. Security of Encore modules is by proprietary adjustable strap method.
2. Casters: Heavy duty forged forks, 8" by 2" full crown rounded tread polyurethane tires, steel wheels,
double ball kingpinless swivel, 4-1/2" by 3-3/4" by 1/4" heavy duty base plate. ALL TRANSPORTS
FULLY ASSEMBLED AT FACTORY.
H. Transport Dimensions
1. Full Size Transport: Net weight 205 lbs, (loaded: 1,960 lbs.) 101" long by 55" high (inclusive of
loaded modules) by 43" wide, ground clearance 9". Maximum standard capacity 22 full size floor
modules.
2. Half Size Transport: Net weight 120 lbs (loaded: 700) , 54" long by 55" high (inclusive of loaded
modules) by 33" wide, ground clearance 9". Maximum standard capacity 16 half size floor modules.
3. Transition Transport: Net weight 85 lbs, (loaded with 35 transitions: 1,000 lbs.) 51" long by 30" wide,
height variable depending on load, ground clearance 9". Maximum standard capacity 35 transition
ramps.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. Install in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions.
3.2 MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
A. Pianos or other moveable equipment used on L'AIR Floor Systems™ shall be fitted with neoprene or polyurethane
tired casters at least 4" in diameter with a tread width of 2". Move pianos or heavy equipment using hardboard or
other protective material to create pathway. For permanently located sets, lights, or heavy equipment, contact L'AIR
INTERNATIONAL for information about special modification options.
B. Extreme climatic fluctuations may result in the need for periodic adjustment of the L'AIR Floor System. Contact
L'AIR INTERNATIONAL for more information.
C. Use extreme care when handling, transferring or storing L'AIR Floor System modules. Avoid contacting edges or
corners of modules with walls, doorways, thresholds, railings, columns, and other objects. Store modules on
transports tongue down .
3.3 SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
A. General
Customer or theatre crew is responsible for off-load and installation labor. L'AIR Encore Floor System including
specified transition ramps and cleats are loaded on coordinating transports. Installation kits (quadrex screws) and
other accessories are included. Manufacturer is not responsible for damage resulting from shipping or off-load.
B. Domestic
L'AIR Floor System™ is typically delivered to designated destination by 75' - 85' tractor trailer. Transports require
3,500 lb capacity forklift with 36" forks for side handling or 72' minimum length forks for end
handling. Units can be loaded or off-loaded from ground or dock. L'AIR Floor System should be off-loaded by dock, forklift, or minimum 12'
length x 40" width ramp.
C. International
L'AIR Floor System™ is delivered to designated destination custom packed inside 40' or 20' sea containers.
Customer is responsible for custom tariffs, duties, and other national charges. L'AIR Floor System should be
off-loaded by forklift or minimum 12' length x 40" width ramp.
