MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Preventative Maintenance
Place non-treated walk-off mats at doorways
All tables and chairs must have floor protection pads on the underside of legs
Avoid excess moisture from tracked water or leaks
Do not "over maintain."

As Needed
Absorb all spills immediately. For sticky spills, quickly absorb as much as possible, then apply BonaKemi's Pacific Floor Cleaner to a cotton cloth and clear remaining residue.

Sweep floor to remove all debris using an untreated broom, dust mop, or vacuum. To remove scuffs, use BonaKemi's cleaner applied to dry cloth. For stubborn stains, such as gum, or other sticky residue, use "Goof-off." Goof-off can be found in hardware stores or drug stores.

Daily to Weekly Maintenance
Sweep entire floor to remove all dust, grit, and other abrasive particles
After the floor has been swept, wipe the entire floor with an untreated dust mop dampened with BonaKemi's Pacific Floor Cleaner. Spray dust mop head with floor cleaner and push across the floor following the direction of the wood graining. Dust mop the floor using using untreated dust mops ONLY. Use only BonaKemi's Pacific Floor Cleaner concentrate diluted to 1 part cleaner to 8 parts water for dampening the dust mop heads. Replace soiled mop covers as necessary to avoid scratching of surface. Vacuum walk-off mats frequently.

Monthly Maintenance
A white pad and a 150 – 175 RPM buffer should be used along with lightly misting the floor with a diluted solution of BonaKemi's Pacific Floor Cleaner. NEVER POUR CLEANER DIRECTLY ONTO THE FLOOR. Periodically clean or replace the cotton cover (for dust mop) or white pad (for buffer) to avoid scratching of floor surface. BE CERTAIN ALL RESIDUE FROM THE WHITE PAD BUFFING/CLEANING PROCEDURE IS REMOVED FROM FLOOR SURFACE BY IMMEDIATELY TACKING WITH WATER DAMPENED, WELL WRUNG-OUT COTTON TOWELS.

NEVER WET MOP THE FLOOR. PLAIN WATER CAN DAMAGE THE FLOOR SURFACE AND CAUSE WOOD TO EXPAND 

Yearly Maintenance or As Necessary
DON'T WAIT UNTIL POLYURETHANE COATING IS WORN AWAY. RECOAT SURFACE AT THE FIRST SIGN OF LOSS OF COATING. Abrade the floor surface using a SIAVLIES MAROON ALL PURPOSE PAD and buffer. Vacuum and tack cloth all dust and residue from surface following removal of old coating. Apply BOSTIK'S ESP WOOD FLOOR FINISH per label instructions. 

To Refinish:  Minimal drum-sand, as typical. Apply BonaKemi or DuraSeal Oil-Modified Polyurethane, satin finish by recommended methods.
