BEECH PRE-FINISHED HARDWOOD PERFORMANCE SURFACE
for integral usage as the performance surface with L'AIR Excelle II Suspended Flooring for studios and "permanent" theatre.

PART 1 GENERAL

L'AIR Pre-Finished Hardwood Performance Surface is designed to provide a traditional appearance and a method for creating a performance surface for dance. L'AIR hardwood is typically installed by furnished security clips on the underside of each hardwood plank, with the hardwood free-floating onto the L'AIR Excelle II Suspended Flooring surface. L'AIR does not warranty or endorse the pre-finished surface of L'AIR Pre-Finished Hardwood as having specific durability or traction qualities other than federally mandated surface traction. L'AIR Heavy-Use Dance Vinyl is recommended for some dance disciplines.

For studios, "permanent" theatre, permanent, or semi-permanent installations. L'AIR furnishes hardwood and all installation components of the hardwood surface.

1.1  DESCRIPTION

Furnish tongue and groove, pre-finished, traditional appearance, plank hardwood flooring for permanent installation onto Excelle II Suspended Flooring installed prior and directly onto site sub-flooring. Material is delivered ready for installation.

1.2  ENVIRONMENTAL

  1. Alter installation method if direct sunlight contacts overlay for prolonged time.
  2. If applicable, activate hydronic floor heating at least 12 days prior to installation of L'AIR System.
  3. Facility climate shall be controlled by heating and air conditioning system. Temperature during installation shall be 65 to 75 degrees F. and shall not fluctuate more than 10d. during usage. Relative humidity should be maintained between 30 and 40%, constant.

2.2  MATERIALS

A. Grade and Testing Data of Materials:

ASTM F 1303-95, Abrasion Resistance: (ASTM D 3884) Net weight loss after 1,000 rev.: 5.0%

B. Material Dimensions:

 Thickness: .875" / 7/8" / 20mm Solid, Full-Grained, Select Wood.  Width: 2-1/2" / 63mm Length: 6' / 72" or 12' 144" Plank. Material has square edges with no edge bevel or edge relief. Weight: 3.2 lbs. per square foot. Material can be sanded and refinished. Combined thickness (profile) of Excelle II Suspended Flooring and Hardwood Performance Surface: 2-1/8" nominal

C. Material Type and Surface:

Solid beech with 2 machine applied coats of 100% solids, satin finish polyurethane. Product may be re-finished and re-coated up to seven cycles. Material incorporates a sealed backing. Installs by free-floating method that allows unrestricted movement for expansion and contraction or by conventional edge-stapling or edge-nailing with less than typical length nails or staples. If installed as free-floating, material can be removed in sections or entirety for repair or replacement.
